ILWS September Challenges

Better late than never and you still have time to take part in the challenges over on In Love With Stamping, if you dont know where this is, follow the link on my right hand list, scroll down and you will find it.

This months challenges were varied. This is the sketch challenge, we were given this sketch and had to make a card using it.....

I did turn the sketch around to make this card. I used the Sweet Pea Paper Stack, Old Olive Satin Ribbon and the Hello Again Stamp Set. The Cardstock is So Saffron.
The next challenge was to make a card using a tone on tone. This means to use one colour but 2 tones of the colour, so, light blue and dark blue, or in my case, light purple, dark purple....

I used Perfect Plum Patterned Paper from Stampin Up and the Blooming With Beauty Stamp Set which is retiring at the end of the month, I will be very sad to see it go.
We also had to make a Children's Party Invitation, I used the Fox and Friends Stamp Set from Stampin Up, glad to see this is not retiring, the Sweet Pea Paper Stack, Brilliant Blue Cardstock, Real Red Grosgrain Ribbon and Old Olive Satin Ribbon.

And last but not least, a masking technique. This means you stamp something, place a mask over the top and stamp another image on top so you dont actually stamp on the bottom image... does this make sense. I used a Saleabration Stamp Set for this card, I love this stamp set, such a shame it was never in the catalogue. Again I used the Sweet Pea Paper Stack and Not Quite Navy Patterned Paper. The Cardstock is Whisper White and Rose Red.
So that is it from me today, off to the opticians in a minute. Went to the dentist yesterday and that cost me a fortune..... will definately be needing new glasses too, I think I must be falling apart.
Have a great day everyone... xx

Simon Says Challenge

I was looking around for some challenges and I came across this one... make anything BABY... well I dont know anyone who is having a baby but it caught my imagination and I decided to make these cute baby shoes out of paper....

I used Not Quite Navy, Bashful Blue and Whisper White Cardstock to made the band around the box and the Animal Stories Stamp set... isn't it a cute little owl?

The little shoes were made out of Bashful Blue Patterned Paper with Bashful Blue Cardstock for the base and Whisper White Cardstock for the front, the ribbon is also Stampin' Up! Blue and White Gingham. I used Not Quite Navy to line the base of the box. The box was made out of Stampin' Up! window sheets.

And above is the finished project all wrapped up nicely in its box... forgot to mention the dots around the owl image is from the Stamp Set Circle Circus... now just need to find someone to give them too.... lol

You can find the Simon Says Challenge here .

Happy New Year Everyone

Well I just wanted to wish all my blog readers a very Happy New Year, hope this year is filled with everything you hope for, that you will fullfil your dreams and you will all have good health.

Me and DH held a New Year's Eve Party at our church and everything went really well, no catastrophes, everything went to plan, there was enough food and drink and it even snowed whilst we were taking my son and girlfriend home afterwards and I just love the snow..... so definately a brilliant evening had by all....

Anyway, today I want to finish up with my Christmas things, this time it was a gift for my Mum, pennies were very tight this year and I wanted to make special things for special people. I used to make jewellery a few years back and my mum used to love my earrings so I decided to make her 3 pairs for Christmas.

I decided that I would use 3 different colour metals and stones so they would all be completely different and would match with more of her outfits. The first pair (I did make 2 although there is only 1 in the picture) I made in gold using brown and cream coloured stones.

The second pair were made using silver and more cooler colours of purple and blue, in fact I think these are my mums favourites as she was wearing them when she popped round on Tuesday...

This pair I used antique copper wire and turquoise stones, I wasn't sure if they were a bit longer than my Mum would normally wear, so I offered to shorten them but she said she likes them just the way they are, so I think they were a hit. In fact I like this pair so much I may have to make myself some similar.

And of course I had to make a box to put them in... unfortunately I underestimated the length of the long ones and they hung slightly below the edge of the box, though not to worry, once the box was shut you couldn't see. I used Bordering Blue and Kraft coloured cardstock from Stampin' Up! and Bella Bleu Patterned Paper also from Stampin' Up!

On the outside of the box I used Very Vanilla Grosgrain Ribbon and the Scallop Oval and Oval Punch and the Oval All stamp Set all from Stampin' Up! and Bordering Blue, Kraft and Not Quite Navy Cardstock.
If you would like to purchase any Stampin' Up! items from me, for the next 2 months for every £45 you spend you can order a free limited edition stamp set. With a choice of 4 to choose from there should definately be at least one that you would love to own. Click on the Saleabration Leaflet on the left hand column to find out more details or email me on LindaLloyd@gmx.net.
Have a great evening all xx

Phew..... just about finished..

Hmmmm I am doing quite a lot of these kind of cards lately, white, silver, black and none of them photograph that well...

This is my grandson, he is now 6 weeks old and my daughter asked me a few weeks ago (probably quite a few weeks ago) if I could make her some thank you cards for all the gifts that Cain received after he was born. And true to form and running late as usual I finally got round to making them today. I used Stampin' Up! Whisper White, Bashful Blue and Not Quite Navy Cardstock. The ribbon is Stampin' Up! Striped Grosgrain. I embossed some of the Whisper White with an embossing folder.

The "Thanks" is the inside of the card, this is a die cut, cut using Bashful Blue Cardstock. Nearly forgot the stamped bit on the back of the card, but did remember in time... lol
I was hoping to make my boys their Christmas Cards, do you know what, I haven't made 1 Christmas Card yet and it is making me panic (other than the set for my Card Making Workshop). I really do need to get on and make some stuff for Christmas. I have 3 styles of cards for the boys, so know basically what I am going to do. I also have several albums I need to make too, and I have made a list, but for everything I cross off I add 2 things to it...
Oooooh hubby is home and I really fancy a chinese takeaway tonight, so I will say bye bye and have a good weekend, I will try and blog tomorrow and Sunday so keep checking back. Oh yes, I also have a Greetings Farm Stamp to give away, just need to photograph it and put it on my blog.
Take care all xx

Forgot to Photograph This...

So had to get it back from my daughter for 5 minutes so that I could take a piccy... I made this card for when she had my little Grandson and it was all so quick I gave it to her without photographing it... doh!!! So here it is, couldn't photograph the inside as I had written in it, but it was decorated to match the outside.

I used a Whiff of Joy stamp which I bought especially for this card. The Patterned Paper is Stampin Up, and so is the ribbon with white stitching. The dark colour is Not Quite Navy and the White is Whisper White. The image was coloured in using copics, and my daughter does have blonde hair.

Off to cook dinner, have a great evening all xx

Yay.... I am feeling happy....

Because I am getting through my to do list today pretty well, and have nearly finished it. First thing I went to the Doctor's as my blood pressure has been high for over a month now and on Tuesday when I went to see the nurse it was still high, so she booked me an appointment with the Doctor today, and guess what, it was normal, so she wants to see me in a month just to check. My daughter also went along to the Doctors to get something to help her give up smoking, whether she will succeed or not I do not know, but let's hope so...

Cant say too much about other things I have done incase DH decides to read my blog today, but I did make his Valentine's card today and have sorted a couple of other things. I also got my tickets for The Killers today, soooooo excited, just over a week to go, I just so cannot wait, although I still have things to scrap from when I went to see them 2 years ago in Berlin... I collected all the bling that fell from the ceiling and DH managed to get me the guitarists plectrum which he threw out into the crowd.... I do have one of our photographs from then as my desktop though... he he

Anyway now to todays card...

The colours used are Not Quite Navy and Bravo Burgundy Cardstock. The Patterned Paper is form my stash, the punch used on the inside of the card is Martha Stewart. The Stamp Set I used is Carte Postale, the idea came from the Stampin' Up! catalogue, which used the same sentiment as I did from God's Blessings. The pearl is from the Pretties Kit.

Have a good Friday evening all xx

What do you know.... 2 posts in one day...

Here is a card using a technique called resist emboss, I made one for my mum last week but forgot to photograph it.... grrr!!

I stamped the image using the Summer by the Sea stamp set, but I first inked the stamp in versamark and then the basic black and stamped the image onto whisper white cardstock. I then embossed the outline using clear embossing powder. I then coloured the image in, then coloured all over the image with a versamark pen and embossed it again, protecting all the colouring that I had done. I masked the top part of the picture with post it notes and using sponge daubers, daubed all over the bottom of the image using Certainly Celery, next I daubed Mellow Moss around the bottom but leaving a bit of the certainly celery showing, next came Old Olive, daubed that leaving a bi of the mellow moss showing, last but not least comes Always Artichoke, daubed all around the edge leaving some of the Old Olive showing.
Next I masked off the green that I had just daubed and took the masking off the top of the card. Using Bashful Blue, I daubed all over the top part and continued as for the bottom using brocade blue, Night of Navy and Not Quite Navy. Next I computer printed the sentiment as I am making 12 Happy Unbirthday cards and have no sentiment stamps for this. I then tied some Real Red grosgrain ribbon around the bottom and added three brads from the bold brights set. Finally mounted onto real red cardstock and then Night of Navy and there we go all finished.

My First Card

So inbetween everything else I have managed to make my first card for this blog.
Here it is:-

To make this card I have used Not Quite Navy cardstock matted onto a card made with Whisper White cardstock. I stamped the Not Quite Navy cardstock with a small flower stamp from the Little Flowers stamp set using Not Quite Navy ink. I then matted Bordering Blue cardstock onto more Not Quite Navy cardstock to go across the centre of the card. I then cut lots of small circles and made them into a scallop border top and bottom of this panel. I then stamped the flower stamp from the Seeing Spots set twice in Bordering Blue and punched them out using a punch, I again matted them onto Not Quite Navy Cardstock. I then stamped the Enjoy stamp from the Be Happy set using Not Quite Navy ink, masked it and stamped the Tag stamp from the same set over the top of it in Bordering Blue ink using my Stamp-a-ma-jig to get it in the right place. I coloured all the open dots in with More Mustard Pen and yet again matted it onto Not Quite Navy cardstock. I stuck a strip of More Mustard Grosgrain Ribbon across the centre of the panel and stuck the two circles onto it using the foam pads to give it a bit of dimension. I then added a Jumbo Eyelet to the tag and stuck that to the end of the panel with foam pads. I stamped another of the Little Flowers onto the Whisper White cardstock in More Mustard ink and just punched out the very middle of it and added it to the middle of the circle flowers with a small foam pad and Voila, a finished card. Here is a more close up photo...
